There were quite a number of temples and shrines scattered in the woods around Littleroot, and today was no exception. A lot of last-minute festival attendees inundated the area, and she was among them. Hoping to remain anonymous; another face in the crowd.

At least, that was the plan, because no sooner had she taken a few steps away from the town and was about to make her way back to Oldale did she hear the shout. The cry of alarm.

Of a fire, torching one of the bigger temples nestled around the area.

Right then and there chaos erupted. People suddenly stampeding past her, screaming and putting as much distance between the location and themselves as fast as they could. As she was buffeted here and there by the panicking crowd, she was hit with a split-second of indecision: should she continue to be indifferent, or just this once, help someone out without expecting anything in return?

Her moral compass hadn’t been too skewed yet, and she then turned around, a 180 maneuver as she fought her way past the oncoming tide. It was difficult, but eventually she’d made it to back to Littleroot proper and saw some last-minute stragglers making their way away from the burning temple, intent on wanting nothing to do with it.

Her brow furrowed—she then remembered she didn’t have a single Water-type on her.

How was she going to go through with this plan now?

Well, this was an interesting turn of events. Julian had just been going about his business at the festival. Aka, enjoyinh himself like every other law-abiding citizen. Though he wasn't exactly law-abiding and in fact was pretty good as a pick-pocket. So most of what he bought was free at least for him.

A cry of fire had him looking towards the sky where smoke billowed out. It would be troublesome if it spread and ruined his day. So he edged along the buildings heading for the fire. Who in the world set the place on fire in the first place? Good grief no one had any respect no more.

"All right ladies time to put out the fire," he said holding three balls between his fingers and throwing them. Out came his mantine, titouga, and golisopod all three water types perfect for putting out the blaze. "Spread out and keep it under control."

His mantine Miya, went in from above her hydro pump landing square in the middle of the blaze. The steam coming up in a puff and the fire sizzled. Teeny used liquidation on the side of the building closest to another preventing it from spreading. Cuga the tirtouga used aqua jet to try and put out the front. Between the three of them the air grew heavy with condensation.

"What in the world cause such a strong blaze so fast anyway," Julian said scoffing.

Why did she think charging in was a good idea, anyway?

Shit, I’m at an obvious disadvantage… why didn’t I get a Water-type?! Were the first thoughts inside her head as she fought her way through the last of the crowd, finally breaking through and seeing that there was another at the scene, having busted out three Water-types and directing them like old ladies!

Okay that’s incredibly dorky but stupid cute, she thought with a hint of a grin on her face as she quickly rolled up her sleeves and began winding up the scarf higher so that it didn’t catch fire as she set in. Knowing that this was going to be a bit of a challenge, she tossed a Pokéball forward and watched her Hakamo-o emerge from the burst of red light, landing with a heavy thud beside her.

“Rani, we’re going in. I know, I must be stupid, but we have to save whoever else is in there. You with me?” she asked the dual-type, who then beat her fists across her chest and made to charge of ahead of her without even waiting for her confirmation!

“Geez, Rani, wait for me!” she called after the Hakamo-o, chasing after the bipedal draconid as the Pokémon plunged ahead into the fire that was coming out of the temple without even blinking.

"Woah, ho, little lady," Julian said stopping Evelyn from following her pokemon. It was already surprising enough seeing one person jump in the flames.

"It's way too dangerous to be doing something like that now," he patted her head. Sure there might be people inside but he was hardly going to risk his skin for them. Fight the fire to save the festivities sure but leave the fire delving to the professionals, please.

"Your skin ain't nearly as tough as a dragon's scales," he said with a smirk.

"I'm sure the fire squad will be here in a jiffy," he said his head looking up at the sounds of sirens. Still distant probably because of the panicked crowd slowing its path. How troublesome people were.
